Great Singapore Sale!!!!!

GSS starts TODAY......

Here are some tips to tackle this much awaited event. Hope this will come in handy for all the shopaholics out there....

  • Early bird catches the worm
Shop early for the best bargain if you are of common size like me, as common sizes tends to be snapped up very quickly.

  • Do your Homework
Look out for ads/mailers by stores for special promotions. Nothing beats legwork though, if possible team up with friends to check out different stores to compare prices

  • Time it Right
Avoid crowds and long queues for fitting rooms and cashier by shopping on weekdays. Generally, stores are the least crowded in the late morning (before lunch time) and between 2p.m to 4p.m. Do not shop during lunch hours or after 5p.m. It might be worthwhile to take a day off work to scout for bargains to avoid weekend or lunch time crowds.

  • Map your Route
To save your precious time, start by making a list of things you wanna buy, then start shopping at a store where you will find most of the things you want. If you are simply looking for the best bargain or if you do not have a shopping list in mind, start at a large mall/departmental store where you will find a large variety of things. If you wanna cover as much ground as possible, start st one end of Orchard Rd and work your way down.

  • Get connected
Make friends with sales staff. If you shop regularly at a particular store, takes time to chat with the staff. They will be able to inform you when there is special/new stuffs coming in, or even inform you about upcoming sales.

  • Dress the Part
Comfortable shoes are a must, if you don't want to have sore feet after you shopping marathon. Always keep you outfit simple as you will be popping in and out of the dressing room. A slip dress will be good. Keep jewelleries/ accessories to the minimum to avoid losing them when you are changing in and out of clothes or them getting caught on the clothes you are trying on.

  • Going Solo
Save get-togethers for some other times. If you really need a shopping companion, pick someone who is quick in the changing room and who has similar taste as you to avoid wasting time waiting for each other.

  • Tap Delivery Services
Some stores provide free delivery services if you spend a certain amount, so make use of this to keep your load light. Do enquire about this from the sales staff.

  • Better late then never
Many stores bring in new sales item throughout the GSS period to keep customers coming back in the 2 months sale, so don't fret if you missed out on the 1st few days. The upside of waiting till the end of the sale is that discount tends to get bigger, but so does the sizes. Only wait for bigger discounts if you are willing to take the gamble.

Enjoy!!!

Check this out!

I just came across this Blog/ Mini Store that sells beautiful accessories.

This gal is really creative and most of the pieces are one-off pieces. Fell in love with the earrings, necklace and bags charms the moment I set my eyes on them.

Here are some of her beautiful creations:

Do visit http://adoptanearring.wordpress.com to check out her creations.

SK-II Air Touch Foundation - Superb!!!!!

This is the best foundation that I have came across! Can't stop myself fron buying it after trying it despite the high price (S$198)!

The coverage is so natural, yet it makes the skin looks flawless (well almost...). And this is so different from the regular foundation that we see. Instead of applying before other makeup, this should be sprayed on after you put on any concealer, eyeshadow, powderblush, etc. Neverthe less wet stuff like mascara, liquid eyeliner and lipgloss should be put on afterward as the foundation will be attracted to water . After it is sprayed on, wait for a couple minutes and VOILA! you will be left with natural, flawless looking skin. And here comes the best part- It doesn't get into your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and clothes...

I Love this..... dun think I will ever use any other foundation again!!!!!!

Shopping in Bangkok!

This is one destination that I visit almost every year for the cheappppp and great shopping.... Will share with you 2 of my favourite.

Chatuchak Weekend Market
One of the most popular/ famous weekend market. A MUST when in Bangkok.

The market is only open at the weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 7am until late. Some of the stalls do open during the week but not sufficient to warrant a visit.

Getting to Chatuchak is EASY, simply take the Skytrain to the end terminal called Morchit which is exactly where the market is located.

You can practically find anything at Chatuchak. Clothes, animals, books, plants, artifacts, unusual things, wooden workings, material, ceramics, baskets, antiques, plastic fruit, silk flowers, antiques, shoes, silver wear, jewelry, houseware..... you name it and you can find it.

MOST IMPORTANTLY! the prices are AMAZING!!!!

Suan Lum Night Bazaar
An absolute must and a viable alternative to visiting the Patpong Night Market and even Chatuchak as it is not as cramped, has good quality entertainment and food stalls, and sells almost everything you could want from your trip to Thailand.

The Night Bazaar is a quick taxi ride away from Silom road, next to Lumpini park. Or take the Skytrain to S2 Sala Daeng ,Station (Silom Line). Walk about 100m and you will see Si Lom MRT station. Take the train to Lumpini and you will see Suan Lum Night Bazzar.

The Bazaar opens around 6 and closes around midnight, it normally has live entertainment such as a live band and a wide variety of food stalls so you can enjoy an evening of fun and shopping at the same time. A definite must for anyone with a shopping list.

I love this.... I really love this place. The things they sell are definitely more unique then what you can find in anywhere else in Bangkok
